Asia Pacific Legal Metrology Forum (APLMF)

Australia had advocated the establishment of APLMF in 1994, composed of legal metrology authorities in the Asia-Pacific region, it's a reginal organization, the purpose of APLMF is to harmonize the regulations of legal metrology across all the member economies involved, it would reduce technical barriers to trade and facilitate the trade development in the region. Besides, it would assist metrology-enabling developing economies in Asia with the infrastructure of legal metrology for raise the economic development of the member economies.

The president of APLMF is elected by the full members for a two-year term of office and may seek re-election for the second term. The current president is Dr. Osman Zakaria. APLMF has set up the executive committee, the secretariat and six working groups which involve Goods Packed by Measure, Metrological Control Systems, Non-Automated Weighing Instruments (NAWI), OIML Certificate Systems, Quality Measurement of Agricultural Products and Utility Measures for the development and promotion of legal metrology.

APLMF offers a platform to legal metrology authorities in the Asia-Pacific region for the exchange of views, the training programs hosted also provide the new skills and concepts to the personnel in these authorities; our country hosted the activities frequently such as questionnaires and training programs, made a major contribution to APLMF, it helps rise the international reputation of our country.
